Truck won’t start

Cranks and will not fire, or nothing at all. Electrical, fuel and immobiliser faults traced in order — starting with the cheap causes, not the expensive ones.

Likely causes

Why it will not fire.

Most no-starts are electrical, and most electrical no-starts are connections rather than components.

Batteries and cablesLoad tested properly, plus terminals, grounds and cable resistance under crank.
Starter and solenoidVoltage drop measured at the starter while cranking — the test that finds a lazy cable.
Fuel supply and air lockLift pump, filters and rail pressure. Air in the system after a filter change is common.
Sensor and ECM powerCam and crank signals, ECM power and ground circuits verified before anything is replaced.
Cold-start and intake heatersGrid heater and glow circuits — the Ontario winter no-start most shops skip.
Harness damage and chafeRubbed-through looms and corroded connectors found rather than guessed at.
Our path

Cheapest cause first.

01

Yard triage by phone

A few checks you can do before towing — sometimes it saves the tow entirely.

02

Electrical first

Batteries, grounds and crank voltage drop measured before any fuel work starts.

03

Fuel and signal

Rail pressure, crank and cam signals, ECM power confirmed under crank.

04

Repair and verify

Started, re-scanned and left running long enough to prove it.

Get it diagnosed

Off the road right now?

Call the desk. No-starts are scheduled as urgent work, and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth a tow to us or a mobile call closer to you.

Stranded unit? (905) 677-7663
Do you do mobile no-start calls?+

Work is done in our bay at 5900 Dixie Rd. Call anyway — we will help you triage over the phone and tell you if a tow is genuinely needed.

It cranks fine but will not fire — battery is OK then?+

Not necessarily. A battery can turn a starter and still be too low for the ECM and fuel system. We measure under crank.

How fast can you look at it?+

Off-road units are prioritised over booked work wherever the bay allows. Call rather than emailing.
